HOMEWORK

MASTHEAD:
Daily Mirror – Up top left in bold red and white. Got the red poppy with “WE WILL REMEMBER” for Remembrance Day. Adds a bit of solemn, patriotic feel.

HEADLINE:
WHAT HAVE THEY DONE… AGAIN? – Big, loud, full of shock. Ellipsis and capital letters make it feel urgent and dramatic.

SPLASH:
Main story’s “TRUMP RETURNS TO POWER”. Takes up loads of space. Feels like a warning. Whole layout screams it’s massive global news. Meant to grab you straight away.

IMAGE:
Huge photo of Trump pointing right at you. Makes him look bold, in-your-face. Flags in the background – classic presidential setting. Makes him the centre of attention, bit intimidating.

STANDFIRST:
Short bit under the headline:
“DONALD Trump swept to power yesterday amid fears he will be even more divisive and brutal than in his first spell in the White House.”
Gives quick context, sounds like they’re worried. Sets the tone straight off.

PLUG:
Top right corner: “FREE National Trust FAMILY PASS”. Not linked to the main story. Bit of a lighter offer – freebie to draw people in. Aimed at families
